How to pitch to editorial playlists as an independent artist in 2022 — a step by step guide for Spotify and Amazon Music

As mentioned in my previous article, Spotify Editorial playlists have really changed the game for me last year. But other streaming platforms are introducing the concept so why not be there and pitch right from the beginning? In this article I will be giving you a step-by-step guide on how to take advantage of these opportunities:

Spotify is currently the biggest music streaming platform world-wide. Their team puts a lot of effort into innovation, research and they are incredibly creative when it comes to new ideas. The concept of editorial playlists began on their platform, along with other fresh features, therefore it is obvious that I will be discussing them first.
If you want to pitch a song, you will have to claim your artist profile on Spotify For Artists. This is a really easy process: just go to spotify.artists.com and start the procedure. You will have to search for your artist name and link some of your socials — this is needed for identity checks. It takes up to 3 days for their team to check your application, but if they will not find any issues, access is granted to you even sooner.
